  • Akoko = Chicken
  • Wodin de sen = What is your name?       Medinde = My name is

Ghanian names are determined on what day of the week the baby was born:

  • Monday – Kojo (male), Adwoa (female)
  • Tuesday – Kwabena (male), Abena (female)
  • Wednesday – Kwaku (male), Akua (female)
  • Thursday – Yaw (male), Yaa (female)
  • Friday – Kofi (male), Afia (female)
  • Saturday – Kwame (male), Ama (female)
  • Sunday – Akwasi (male), Akosua (female)
